Barbara Walters passed away last night from news reports I saw this morning. I remember her visit to Lowell MA with the Middlesex Community College Celebrity Forum in 2004. She came in by limo with a Lowell Police Department motorcycle escort and attended a dinner in her honor before her stage presentation that night. What was noticeable to me was how she came without any entourage or assistants and handled herself easily with everyone as we did the usual event photos with local dignitaries and ticket holders. It has been almost 20 years since the event and it almost didn’t happen due to the passing of President Ronald Regan that week. She did make it though and it made for a memorable night.
