On my weekend bike ride through Salem NH I came across the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery and took a few views of the decorated grave markers. I noticed markers designating Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War. Looking into the history of the holiday it started as “Decoration Day” dating back to the Civil War and has since evolved to Memorial Day. Enjoy the holiday and remember what it stands for.
